The GOOD Kind Of Dairy Face (Trust Us)

You only have to flick open a magazine or scroll through your Facebook feed recently to realise that there’s one food group getting a pretty bad rep in the world of beauty – dairy. If, like us, you’re partial to a milky brew in the morning or a cheese toastie for lunch then the news that your dairy intake might be responsible is definitely cause for alarm! Our Content and Marketing Writer (and macaroni cheese lover), Mica, decided to find out if it was all bad news…

THE DREADED DAIRY FACE

A little investigating on my old friend Google revealed that beauty editors are buzzing about everything from dairy face to wine face at the moment. The idea is that what we’re eating and drinking can reveal itself on our complexions. For example – love a glass or two of white? Apparently experts can tell from the amount of lines and wrinkles on your face! When it comes to dairy, it’s thought that lumps and bumps on your chin, small white spots, and swollen eyelids with dark circles beneath are the tell-tale signs that you’ve been overindulging in the white stuff. As someone who has been suffering with unexplained breakouts recently, I’m intrigued…

THE LOVELY SIDE OF LACTOSE

Actually, while including too much dairy in your diet might play havoc with your skin, the skincare gurus over at Korres have been celebrating the benefits of milk in two of their new products! Both their Milk Proteins 3-in-1 Cleanser (which some of you might have tried in your February Birchbox) and their Milk Proteins 3-in-1 Cleansing Wipes are packed with, you guessed it, milk proteins which can actually do wonders for problematic complexions. These proteins are amazing at moisturising the skin (thanks to their water-binding abilities), delivering a boost of complexion-friendly amino acids to nourish and purify deep down, and they also play a vital role in maintaining the skin’s natural collagen, elastin, and keratin levels. Sounds like a miracle ingredient, right?

MY SKINCARE UPDATE

For me, the best thing about these new Korres products is their 3-in-1 approach to cleansing. For ladies like me with a more, erm, laid-back approach to cleansing they are ideal – and the Korres Milk Proteins 3-in-1 Cleanser is the star of the show! I just massage it into dry skin then remove it with cotton pads (or rinse it off if I’m feeling flash!) and it wipes away my make-up and daily grime with ease, leaving my skin moisturised and soothed. After just a few days I’ve already found that the glowing red pimples on my chin have started to ease off despite continuing to enjoy my daily cups of tea (with milk, of course!) and the occasional macaroni cheese toastie (yep, it’s a thing). Sounds like a win-win to me.
